Finding Balance Through Equitable Access

Found in a city at the heart of the American spirit of change and community support, Philadelphia neighborhoods still face the realities of poverty every day. Families caught in wage and education gaps contend with homelessness and inadequate access to proper health care and food. Up to half of the residents of some Philadelphia neighborhoods can find themselves more than half a mile from a grocery store, compared to just 1 percent of Center City residents. The contributions of our generous donors go toward supporting neighborhoods like Frankfurt that are seeking relief from decades of inequity.

Through Strengthening Cities, New Kensington Community Development Corp. will receive support for its Public Green Space Initiative

This initiative will build, maintain and program six to eight new garden spaces designed to improve health outcomes of children and families and increase sustainable land sovereignty and food production in the area.
